Natural Head Lice Removal Tactics

By Edward Wood

A parent or guardian will never enjoy peace of mind knowing that there are insects eating away into the head of his or her child. Head lice removal should be a priority for any parent or guardian. In fact, it should be a search for a permanent solution to avoid an infestation that could lead to skin diseases and an itchy experience.

Combing will help a great deal. This should be done in an environment where they cannot jump off to hide on other people or surfaces. Lucky enough, these insects will die as soon as they are off the body because they feed on blood. Combing helps to expose these insects so that they can get out of the comfort of the scalp.

Pyrethrum products will provide an effective solution. Pyrethrum has been used in fighting insects for years. It forms part of insecticide industry and has proven effective through damage to the nervous system. With a damaged nervous system, these insects are incapacitated leading to death. The products are best applied on dry hair to avoid dilution. You have to be cautious of developing resistance. Follow up the application after 7-10 days.

Olive oil is commonly used in the kitchen but has more applications than that. It is preferred as a solution because it comes in its natural form. This means that there are no side effects and the target insects do not develop resistance. The oil will also be treating your skin beyond killing the bugs. The oil works by suffocating the bugs such that they die off.

Use the hair drier to kill the insect using heat. This method is only effective to some extent and depends on how well you apply it. The hair drier should be used on a head that has just been washed. The little buggers will be bothered by the heat and therefore die or escape. The effectiveness of this approach depends on how much heat you can take.

Hair dunking is a clever way of dealing with bugs in your hair. You drown them in a liquid or substance that denies them air. You will need to be in water or apply the liquid for a while to be effective. Adding insecticides and soap to the water makes it more effective. This will also clean your scalp. Unfortunately for some insects like lice, they can survive in water for hours. However, leaving the head to cake will make conditions unbearable.

Vinegar is an alternative. It works well in the kitchen when dealing with grease. On your hair, it will eliminate the substance helping these bugs to hold on. With no grip, they fall off as you clean or comb. They can be used alone or with other substances.

Home remedies are preferred because they are free of resistance. It means that you can apply them several times without experiencing resistance. Follow instructions or involve an experienced assistant when using these methods. It is your accuracy that will determine whether you succeed. Keep a neat scalp and the bugs will be eliminated.
