Treat Rosacea for your Skin

By Alistair Nole

The chronic and occasionally progressive facial disorder called acne rosacea is one that worldwide, affects 45 million people. Symptoms from this include permanent redness and swelling, very sensitive skin, and bloodshot eyes. This skin condition was known to only affect people of north-western European descent, and has been nicknamed the curse of the Celts by some Irish folks.

Darker spots can form on the face from melasma and this is close to what rosacea can do. The difference is that it is only redder. It's natural for people's faces to turn red from time to time. Natural causes include a spike in adrenaline levels. It can also be caused by dilation of the arteries when you eat something really spicy. However, rosacea takes redness to an abnormal level.

Rosacea is not caused by infections such as bacteria, studies have shown and doctors agree. Genetic traits may point to a group of people who tend to blush more easily than others. Those who consume alcohol can have redder faces, but when that person has rosacea, it can make it worse. Rosacea can appear in people at different ages, and it seems to be around 30 years old when dermatologists diagnose this disorder commonly.

Rosacea has many outward signs, including bumps and acne, red cheeks, redness and swelling near the nose, and unsightly obvious blood vessels on the face.

As with other skin conditions, lasers can be used to treat rosacea. A topical solution is often first recommended by dermatologists for those who rosacea affects. For instance, skin creams can get rid of the abnormal redness through conventional antibiotics like tetracycline and minocin. For severe or less severe instances of rosacea, this can be effective. Depending on the severity of the situation, a dermatologist could prescribe oral antibiotics when the issue warrants it.

Many people who are afflicted with rosacea use a lot of makeup to try to cover it up. The fact about this is that the issue will be made worse by using too much makeup. Do not use makeup for this reason, be sure to only use it when it is for an important engagement, and don't use much. Otherwise, stay away from it. Whenever rosacea symptoms appear, mild cleaners are often recommended. Rosacea is not as likely to get worse if the face is kept as clean as possible. Natural cleansers are the obvious choice, free of major chemicals and unnatural compounds. Skin can be damaged by some more serious kinds of elements that are contained in some solutions.

Rosacea can occur in adults of any ethnicity, and adversely affects patients' quality of life. Depending on the certain kind of rosacea that a person is suffering from, a suitable treatment can be devised that will be most beneficial to a patient. Using products that are natural in origin help a lot for reducing rosacea symptoms. Talking to the experts is the most sensible idea, since you can benefit from their experience. There are plenty of dermatologists who are well respected and knowledgeable that can help treat rosacea, melasma and any other skin conditions, that will improve the lives of patients.
